History
Tollymore was granted to Brian MacHugh MacAgholy Magennis in 1611 by James 1st. The property remained in the Magennis family until about 1685 when Bryan Magennis died unmarried, Tollymore then became the property of his sister Ellen who had married Captain William Hamilton. The estate passed, again through the distaff side, to the Jocelyns, one of whom was later created Earl of Roden.

The Roden family sold Tollymore to the Department of Agriculture in 1941.
