The image below shows Castlewellan Station sometime after 1906 when it came into operation, the line from Castlewellan to Newcastle was owned by the BCDR (Belfast & County Down Railway) while the line from Castlewellan to Ballyroney and on to Banbridge was owned by the GNR (Great Northern Railway) which operated the Belfast to Dublin line.

Castlewellan station was closed in 1955, the property was sold to the Trainor family from Belfast who ran a successful scrap metal business in it for many years.

An industrial estate now occupies the site.
