Situated about 1.5 miles (1 km) from Cloughey on the east coast of the Ards Peninsula.

Extensive modifications were made at the beginning of the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style

Nearby is Kirkestown Golf Club established in 1901, also a World War II airfield which is now used for the staging of motor racing events.

Other places of interest in the area are Kearney Village, owned by the National Trust, some pleasant coastal walks can be enjoyed here. The fishing village of Portavogie, Northern Irelands second largest collection of fishing vessels after Kilkeel. Ballycopeland Windmill, the last surviving working windmill in Northern ireland. Quinten Castle, not open to the public, but has an interesting history.
