River Valley Stables opened its doors to the public in 1993 in the region of South West Kerry known as the Roughty Valley. The stables are members of AIRE. Its instructors are trained to a high standard and are there to give you an experience that few people rarely get.

There is no age limit for anyone wishing to go horse trekking. All riding gear required for treks is supplied but customers are welcome to bring their own.

The treks can be as little as 1 hour to as much as 8 hours riding, depending on your experience and endurance (with a maximum of 8 persons at any one time). All rides take you out into the mountains, where you can relax at a pace that suits you and which gives you the opportunity to enjoy the scenery that River Valley Stables offers.

This is a centre to faciltiate riders of any standard. 1 and 2 hour treks can be taken through beach and mountains in beautiful surroundings.

Tuition is provided by qualified instructors, with horses and ponies available for all levels. The centre is AIRE approved.

The centre specialises in beach trekking on miles of golden sand, also forest trails. It offers exciting treks through varied terrain, open bogland and rich farmlands. There is an outdoor arena and a jumping enclosure.
