Waterville.
 

Waterville is set at the head of Ballinskelligs bay and is the approximate mid point of the ring of Kerry tour, close to the town are long sandy beaches, golf and fishing are additional attractions. From the town you can glimse the Skellig Rock where St Finian founded an Abbey on Skellig Michael in 540. Little Skellig is a haven for marine birdlife especially the gannet, boat trips are available from several places along the coast, but are subject to suitable weather conditions.

There is an excellent interpetative centre in the town of Portnagee near the bridge linking Valentia island with the mainland.It describes the life lived by the monks on the Skelligs, and various aspects of coastal life.
