Bishop James Usher.

Usher was born in Dublin in 1581, he was a Protestant ecclesiastical historian and cleric, he is famed for his calculation of the creation of the world, setting the date as 23rd October 4004 BC based on his study of the bible.

He was one of the first students at Trinity College Dublin, he was appointed Bishop of Meath in 1641 and archbishop of Armagh in 1635.

He published seventeen volumes of his own literary works and his vast collection of books and Irish manuscripts, eventually found the way into many Irish library's, where they make a significant contribution to our understanding of Ireland and its history, particularly in relation to church matters
