Kennedy Memorial Park.
 

Situated on the lower slopes of Slieve Coilte, is a 620 acre estate planted wit over four thousand varieties of trees and shrubs. The estate is dedicated to the memory of President John F Kennedy, the site was chosen because of its proximity to Dunganstown near which stood the ancestral home of President Kennedy's great grandfather who emigrated to America.

Johnstown Castle & Museum.
 

The present castle was built in the 1820's by John Knox Grogan with additions by Hamilton K Grogan-Morgan in the mid nineteenth century. The castle is now the headquarters of the Irish Agricultural Institute its chief use being for soil research.

A nearby block of neo-Gothic farm buildings house the agricultural museum. Its many rooms contain excellent displays of power driven barn machines, carts and traps, wheel wright and carpenter workshops, a blacksmith shop, a shoemakers shop, a harness makers shop, as well as a collection of Irish country furniture.

The site is beautifully situated on the edge of an artificial lake surrounded by fifty acres of parkland.
